Power Woodwork is a group of designers, artisans and crafters based in Thailand that bring out the beauty in reclaimed tropical hardwoods by turning them into solid wood furniture for homes and commercial spaces.
Rosewood is one of the most sought-after woods in the world and is now quite rare since the trees can no longer be cut. We search out old wood slabs to reclaim and we lucky enough to find some Rosewood pieces in storage for decades. When we finished it we honored this gorgeous wood by filling the cracks with gold leaf. A special table needs special legs, so we crafted a wheel base out of hardwood and resin to match the tabletop.
Teak is one of the world's best woods, hard and stable and with a high oil content that protects the wood for both indoor and outdoor furniture. Before we build with teak we first temper it by leaving it out in the sunshine, which gives this iconic wood its golden yellow colour. We also crafted the square legs from a strong tropical hardwood to support the heavy table.
We enjoy building furniture from Rain Tree wood because the wild grain patterns make every table unique. Just as important to us, Rain Tree is a very sustainable wood that grows in many tropical areas. This wood must be dried carefully to keep it stable for the long term. We are one of the few furniture builders in Asia working with Rain Tree slabs that have our own commercial dry kilns, so our table crafting starts in a kiln. We support the table with our own X-base, which keeps the legs under the middle of the table and gives diners more leg room at both ends of the table.
This 4-meter heavy Golden Teak table is crafted for the hospitality sector as teak this large is rare today. Thailand once had a teak logging industry but that ended decades ago. Luckily we were able to salvage this wood from an old warehouse. It will be used as an entrance console table. We could have widened this slab into a standard dining table width by adding epoxy resin. Instead, we choose to work with these rare old slabs as they are and use what nature has given us.
We are not a factory. Rather a workshop where our skilled crafters take a woodwork project through the entire build. With years of woodworking experience, their work finishes with them proud of the results.
We don't cut trees. Instead, we scour all over Thailand for old wood that we can conserve in new woodworks. Much of the wood had been stored away for decades. We have even recycled discarded hardwood utility poles. As environmentalists, we love the idea of giving old wood another life and locking away the carbon stored in the wood.
When we apply wood finish to woodworks such as this teak entrance door, we choose eco-friendly oils that protect not only the wood but also the health of our customers, their families and even their pets.

I can recommend Power Woodwork for the good work they do. They can take a concrete shell of a house and do all the solid wood installation, from wall cladding to flooring, stairways, doors, kitchen islands and built-in closets. Also, their beautiful tables. Their installation team is very experienced and really careful.
Power Woodwork made this great wall art for my home. They were easy to work with, keeping me informed as it was being built. I wish I had more wall space for another piece from them.
